Part 2
Next Morning…
Tess’ eyes narrowed at the slender figure that was heading toward Max and
her.
“Come on Max honey. Let’s go this way,” she said, trying to steer him
away from the path. Too late!
“Liz!” Max called out, escaping from Tess’ grasp. She groaned inward,
shooting Liz a death glare. The raven-haired girl glanced at their direction
with confusion and questioning in her eyes. Then she smiled in recognition and
quickens her pace to them. The scowl on Tess’ face stretched even further.
She didn’t want Liz to come any closer to Max and she. The nearer Liz came,
the higher the ends of the hair on the back of Tess’ neck rose. Trusting the
power she had within, she mind-warped Liz into believing that Max and her were
making out in the hallway.
Liz stood still, rooted to the floor, unmoving, unblinking. Then, a
slip-second later, a wave of amusement swept over and into Liz’s eyes. Tess’
jaw dropped open, her mind racing through the possibilities of why Liz should
be amused by the whole ordeal. A slow smile spread onto Liz’s face as she
lifted her head up to meet Tess.
*So you’re Tess.* A voice whispered in the blonde’s mind. *Still
developing your powers I see. Don’t bother trying to mess with me. You
can’t win.*
With a triumph smirk on her gentle face, Liz turned around and headed for
class. Max wanted to chase after her but Tess’ sharp call of his name halted
him in his steps.
“What is it?” his annoyed tone of voice asked.
“I need to talk to you now. This instant!” she practically yelled at him.
Max rolled his eyes and returned, “class now. Talk later. Got it?”
Before she could protest, Max took the liberty to ditch her for class. With
eyes blazing of fury, she stomped off in a huff.
In Class with Liz…
Max sat next to Liz, fidgeting in his seat, uncertain if he should speak. He
sucks in air and puffed his chest and plunged into the icy cold dangerous
water ahead.
“So Liz,” he said, trying to sound casual, “where were you yesterday? We
couldn’t find you after school. Didn’t Maria tell you that we were waiting
for you?”
“I was home, nursing a broken heart.”
“What did you just say?” Max asked again, unsure of what he had just
heard.
Liz turned her head slowly to meet his stare, her eyes flashing an odd color.
“What I said was none of your business.” She answered him in a cold brisk
voice. “Now can you please leave me alone and go bother someone else?”
Max leaned back into his chair stunned.
End of School…
“Do you notice anything strange about Liz today?” Max asked the gang.
“Besides acting like she doesn’t know us, giving us the cold shoulder, and
acting like a bitch? Nope, nothing strange,” reported a civil Michael with
sarcasm dipped in his words.
Max glared at him and Maria smacked him at his arm.
“That’s my best friend you’re talking about,” she told him, “I know
Liz practically all my life and she have never pulled this kind of stunt
before!”
“The question is, why she’s doing this now?” Alex pondered.
“Maybe it’s because…” Isabel stopped in mid-sentence.
Liz had just walked into the school parking lot.
“Am I just imagining it or is it for real?” Isabel stammered.
“What? What is it Isabel?” Maria anxiously asked.
Alex and Maria followed the four alien’s stare all the way to Liz. What did
they see, or rather feel, was the enormous energy wave radiating from Liz’s
body. They have never seen anything like it. They could actually see the
energy wave and it was the color that resembles white. It whispers, “Angel
of the Dead” into their ears.
“This doesn’t make any sense!” Michael cried frustrated.
“Nothing ever make sense here in Roswell,” chirped in Maria, much to her
boyfriend’s annoyance.
Max only buried his face in his hands, blocking out all the noises and
bickering while Tess was having a staring contest with Liz’s backside.
Sometime in the Night…
Tess focused on Liz’s yearbook picture and closed her eyes. She again
repeatedly planted horrible, cruel images and holograms in Max Evan’s
claimed girlfriend.
“This’ll teach her to not mess with me. Max will be mine and no one’s
going to stand in my way!”
“What have you been doing to her?” Nasedo demanded.
He walked in the room and could sense that Tess had used her powers and her
smirk added to the suspicion.
“Nothing,” Tess replied sweetly, trying to cover up her filthy tracks by
pretending to be innocent. Unfortunately for her, Nasedo had been with her for
so long that he could quickly tell whether she’s lying or not. He could see
through her thin disguise.
“Young lady!” he threatened, giving her a displeased look.
“Fine, fine, fine!” Tess gave up.
She told him all about what was going on starting with the feeling of
attraction toward Max, and all the way up to what she just did.
“Do what you like, just don’t get carry away and get exposed,” he
warned.
The blonde grinned at him.
“He can be so understanding sometime,” she thought, her evil smile
becoming visible again.
While they exited the small, compact room, Tess became dizzy and nausea.
“What’s happening to me?” she exclaimed, grabbing onto the couch to
steady herself. The dizziness and nausea stopped briefly, giving her sometime
to breathe.
*This is just a warning! Don’t think you can win little girl. You’re not
strong enough. If you try, don’t blame me for the results. You brought it on
yourself.*
The same voice previously spoke in her mind half taunted and threatened.
“Nasedo!” Tess called out.
“I’m going to get to the bottom of this even if it’s the last thing I
do!” she swore.
Somewhere Else…
“Oh, I bet you will,” snarled Liz, closing the curtains, blocking the dark
bleak night, “but you won’t go far. You’ll just be digging your own
grave.”
