Part 5
“Who
was just there?” a voice said from behind them.
Max and Tess turns around to see Liz.
“Liz, were you just in that room?” Max asked, pointing to the classroom
Tess had claimed that Liz was trying to kill her in.
“No,” Liz said slowly, “I was in class. Why?” She looks strangely at
the two aliens.
“What kind of class?” Tess asked, not believing her one time second.
“Mr. Doff’s,” Liz said, her eyes fixing onto Tess’, “with Maria and
Alex.”
They stared at each other; brown ones against blue ones. The blue ones filled
with accusation and the brown ones filled with innocence and a tint of
taunting. It was Max who broke their stares. He grabbed Tess’ arm and hissed
to her under his breath, “She couldn’t have tried to kill you! She was in
class for god’s sake!”
“But Max,” Tess hissed back, keeping her eyes on Liz, “how do you know
if she wasn’t lying?”
“Then I guess we’ll have to have a little talk with Maria.”
“Tess, are you okay? You look kind of pale,” Liz cut in. Her eyes showing
nothing close to concern.
“I’m fine,” Tess lied, “I have to go to class.” She pushed Max’s
arms away and headed for her locker.
“But Tess,” Liz said, “school’s over.”
Tess spun around. “School’s over?” she squeaked.
*How long did she keep me in there?*
“Yea,” Liz nodded, “Are you SURE you’re all right?”
Tess didn’t to answer her. She just threw her one last hateful glare and ran
home.
“Nasedo!” she yelled once she stepped into the house, “where are you?”
“Nasedo!” she screamed again. She wanted to break something, so she
settled for throwing the vases and mirrors to the wall.
“What’s with all the racket?” Nasedo demanded furiously, “I was trying
to get some sleep!”
“Didn’t you hear me calling you for the past 5 minutes?” Tess shouted at
him.
Nasedo rolled his eyes, “Of course I did. That’s why I didn’t bother to
answer you!”
“Nasedo!” she threw another vase but this time it was aimed at her alien
guardian.
With a wave of his hand, the vase vanished before it could reach him. Tess
gave a yell and stomped her feet saying, “Stop doing that!”
“Doing what?” he asked, walking into the kitchen and taking out a carton
of orange juice.
“Is orange juice all you can think of in a time like this?” Tess asked,
following him into the kitchen.
“No,” Nasedo said, putting down the carton on the table, “there’s also
milk and bread.”
“Arg!” Tess zapped the refrigerator with one quick move of the wrist.
Nasedo looked surprise and disturbed at the same time. “Why did you do that
for? There was ice cream in there!”
“I don’t even want to go there! Can’t you just listen to me for once?”
Nasedo shakes his head, “nope.”
*I don’t believe this!* Tess raged. *The world must be against me today!*
In the back of her mind, something whispered, “And every other day too.”
Tess took a step back and stared at Nasedo who was eating the ice cream he had
conjured up. *This doesn’t look right. Nasedo usually doesn’t even give a
damn for human food!*
“Liz!” she shrieked, “I know this is your doing! Show yourself you
coward!”
“Who’s the coward here? You’re the one who ran home crying for your
daddy, not me.”
“Why are you here? Didn’t you get enough satisfaction today?”
“I told you not to go and cry wolf. But did you listen? No. Remember the
saying, ‘Strike three you’re out?’ It’s strike two for you mouse.”
“Where are you?”
“Over here.” Liz appeared in front of Tess. “Or maybe I’m over
here?” Liz disappeared and reappeared behind the alien. She kept doing this
continuous until Tess ran out the door, swearing revenge on the brunette.
*Watching Tess squirm is so fun!* Liz smiled and licked her lips hungrily. *Go
and run little mouse. Run to the cheese.*
